‘Malasakit Bus Service’ Offers Free Transportation to Cebu Health Workers

Published

on

The Malasakit Bus Service is offering free transportation for around 1,000 health workers who continue to be the frontliners in the battle against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The Malasakit Bus was launched through the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV).

The bus service operates from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and has six trips per day with three trips in the morning and another three in the afternoon/night.

Malasakit Buses have been deployed since March due to the difficulty of health workers to commute since PUVs and other modes of public transportation are prohibited.

Another 10 buses were also deployed on June 17, 2020 after Cebu was placed under general community quarantine.

Meanwhile, a total of four (4) routes have been planned for the buses. From Fuente Osmeňa to SM Consolacion in the North; South up to Minglanilla Plaza; West up to Barangay Marigondon in Lapu-Lapu City; and East up to Talamban Gym in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

The Cristina Lee Dino Foundation is the one who is shouldering the salary of the drivers and the gas expense of the said buses. (MLC)
