LGUs Strongly Support ‘Plant, Plant, Plant Program’
Different Local Government Units (LGUs) welcome Department of Agriculture’s (DA) “Plant, plant plant” program.
The main purpose of the program is to enhance and multiply food production in different localities especially in these trying times.
DA-7 Regional Executive Director Atty. Salvador Diputado, along with Balilihan Mayor Pureza Chatto did an actual fruit-tree planting in the town’s production area. The tree planting and the fruit-tree seedling distribution happened on July 1, 2020.
Prior to the town of Balilihan, the town of Catigbian was also visited by DA-7 officials to conduct the distribution and planting of fruit-tree seedlings.
Aside from fruit-tree seedlings, fertilizers, vegetables and rice seeds were also distributed.
The “Plant, plant, plant” program is in line with Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año’s memorandum circular 2020-080.
“With this directive of DILG, we can assure that our programs will reach the grassroots with the support of the Local Chief Executives. We are grateful with the DILG for this support mechanism,” Diputado said.
DA7’s major research stations made the towns of Bohol a strategic place for the distribution of fruit-tree seedlings.
“Our research stations particularly in Bohol province have been instructed to intensify its seedlings production in compliance with Secretary William Dar’s plant, plant, plant program,” Diputado said. (MLC)
