The Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Central Visayas (DENR)-7 extends P3.7 million worth of relief assistance to help and support Central Visayas in battling the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

DENR-7 Regional Director Paquito Melicor said during the “Straight from the Source” program with Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-7 that they were able to procure and donate P1.3 million worth of hygiene kits and P500,000 worth of Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) to aid in the fight against COVID-19.

The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB)-7, Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB)-7, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO)-7, and Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO)-7 were also at the program.

“We are doing our best to help and extend our support to our partner government agencies especially to our frontliners and health workers in these trying times. Rest assured that we shall continue our efforts to help contain the spread of COVID-19 and help manage its impacts not only to the economy but most importantly to the environment,” Melicor said.

Aside from the donated PPEs, around P400,000 worth of food products, vitamins were also provided for frontliners in all checkpoints across the Region.

P357,550 cash donation was also intended for the purchase of additional PPEs and face masks. (MLC)
