Cebu City to Have Bike Lanes Soon
Cebu City will soon have its own bicycle lanes for cyclists and bike owners who wish to experience safer traveling along the city’s roads.
“Dedicated bicycle lane. Coming very soon in Cebu City,” Cebu City Mayor Labella posted on his official Facebook page.
This comes after the Cebu City Transportation Office’s (CCTO) announcement requiring bike owners to undergo mandatory bike registration to ensure safety.
The announcement gained different reactions on social media–showed the dismay of most netizens especially bike owners.
Mayor Labella suspended the said mandatory registration right away.
Under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ), more people are now using bicycles to buy basic goods and to go to work, and being able to avoid the possibility of catching Covid-19 while using public transportation under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ).
“Gamit kaayo ang bike karon sir ilabi na namo mga pobre kay wala man gyud mi mga awto, mao ra gyud ni among magamit isip transportasyon ug isa pa di mi pwede mag kumpyansa pod mubasta basta ug sakay sa public transpo kay simbako ma taptan mi looy among pamilya. Mao na karon sir lipay kaayo mi kung matinuod man gani na naa nay bike lane para mas safe among pag byahe,” a certain Carlo said. (MLC)
