Cebu City Lists Record-High 164 Covid-19 Recoveries in One Day

The city government here on Wednesday recorded 164 more patients who have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total number of recoveries to 394.

Mayor Edgardo Labella said the recoveries listed by the Cebu City Health Department (CCHD) is the highest in a single day since the Covid-19 crisis started in March.

Most of the recoveries are from Barangay Suba with 114 patients, 33 from Bacayan, two from Sambag II, and 15 from Mambaling where the locked down sub-village of Alaska is situated.

“Now more than ever, we need to make sure that there would be no second wave in our city. Please continue to cooperate with the city government, the DOH (Department of Health), PNP (Philippine National Police) and other government agencies,” Labella said in a statement.

He also urged the residents to continue observing health protocols established by the DOH in order to prevent further contagion of coronavirus.

“Protect one another by wearing face masks, staying at home, practicing good hygiene and social distancing” Labella added.

Lawyer Rey Gealon, the mayor’s spokesperson, said at least 110 asymptomatic patients from Barangay Suba who are confined at Barangay Isolation Center (BIC) in San Nicolas Elementary School were scheduled to be released on Wednesday along with four others who had tested negative of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the CCHD recorded 21 new Covid-19 positive cases in the city.

Of the number, seven are from Barangay Suba, three from Duljo, two from Tejero, and one each from Lahug, Inayawan, Sawang Calero, Kinasang-an, San Nicolas-Proper, Camputhaw, Mambaling, Pardo, and Carreta. (PNA)
