Philippine Government to Mass Produce COVID-19 Test Kits

With the ongoing threat of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) which infected almost 170,000 people and claimed around 6,000 lives around the globe, the Philippine Government eyes to mass produce COVID-19 test kits to continue the battle against the said disease.

As of date, there are 140 confirmed cases and 12 deaths recorded in the Philippines due to the said disease.

The Office of the President is currently providing the required funds of the DOH, DOST, and UP Manila’s National Institutes of Health in the production of the diagnostic kits for the COVID-19 tests.

Manila HealthTek, a private research and development company in the Philippines is prepared to do the mass production to respond to the present crisis.

Private sectors who wish to donate funds, they are encouraged to coordinate with the nearest DOH, PGH, DSWD and even LGUs to ensure its rightful receipt and the best use.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Government urged the public to be a responsible social media user since there are still many fake news articles roaming around the internet that may cause panic and unwanted events. The government also assured the people that they are prepared to use its resources to contain the disease and to secure the safety and health of every citizen.

Protocols issued by the IATF must be observed to avoid further spread of the virus. (MLC)
