Unexploded WWII Bomb Found in Central London

British police cordoned off a construction site in central London after the discovery of a suspected World War II bomb.

“Police were called at approximately 1.42 pm on Monday, February 3 to reports of a suspected WWII ordnance discovered at a building site near Dean Street,” a statement by the police said.

“Cordons are in place and the item will be assessed,” it added.

The discovery of unexploded bombs which were dropped in London during World War II by Nazi Germany is common.

Nazi leader Adolf Hitler had ordered a relentless bombing campaign, known as the Blitz, into the U.K. for eight months, killing more than 40,000 civilians by the end of 1941. (AA)
