Mabolo Sinug Festival 2020 Successful; Grander Festival Expected Next Year

Barangay Mabolo, spearheaded by its former Barangay Captain and now Cebu City Councilor Niña Mabatid, celebrated the “Mabolo Sinug Festival 2020” at the vicinity of Mabolo Church and Mabolo Elementary School last Saturday, January 18.

The activity, on its 2nd year, featured different segments such as float presentation, “Higante” or giant mascots’ presentation, festival queen and the most awaited ritual showdown.

“Ang rason ngano nag himo ko ani nga activity, I just want the Cebuanos to know nga ang Sinulog nag originate gyud diri sa Mabolo. Garbo gyud namo sa Mabolo nga ang Sinulog karon nahimong dako kaayong activity”, said Mabatid.

12 contigents from different Sitios of Barangay Mabolo showcased their talent for the ritual showdown.

Mabatid, who also celebrated her birthday during that very day, dedicated the whole activity to Señor Santo Niño and to all people of Barangay Mabolo.

“Kaning Sinug Festival, this is also my way of telling them (people) nga wa gyud ko mi biya sa Barangay Mabolo, at least pinaagi ani nga activity ma feel man lang nila akong presence,” said Mabatid

The councilor also said that they will make the activity even better next year.

“Hopefully next year palabwan nasad namo unsa amo gi prepare karon,” Mabatid added.

Mabatid also extended her gratitude to the Cebu City Government for helping her make the activity successful.

“Last year was a very successful event pero karon mas nindot pa gyud kay gi tabangan man ko ni Mayor Edgar Labella and the city government,” said Mabatid.
