Cebu Under State of Calamity

After the recent typhoon “Ursula” devastated Visayas including the northern part of Cebu, towns of Medellin and Daanbatayan declared state of emergency and now, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) also recommended that it could be expanded province-wide.

There are 9,947 families affected by the recent typhoon in the northern part of Cebu.

Typhoon Ursula brought total disaster to the residents of Medellin leaving 36 houses totally damaged and 1,116 partially damaged.

PDRRMO Chief Neil Sanchez recommended the declaration of the state of calamity to the PDRRMO council to be approved by the head, Governor Gwen Garcia.

Typhoon Ursula made landfall in Eastern Samar on Tuesday afternoon, December 24 and left thousands of families homeless during Christmas day.

There are 16 people confirmed dead in the Visayas during the typhoon. (MLC)
