“Akong gisulti sa mga biktima sa sunog nga importante buhi ta, ang gamit magtinabangay lang ta kay ato manang mapalit pero ang kinabuhi di man gyud na mapalit (I told the victims that they should still be thankful that they are alive. Material things can be bought back but you can never buy life),” Said Senator Go.

Senator Go, along with the National Housing Authority (NHA), Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Trade and Industries (DTI), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) distributed relief and cash assistance to the victims.

Meanwhile, Senator Go said that he wanted to provide permanent evacuation centers to disaster victims which made him file the “Department of Disaster Resilience” bill to focus on disaster-resilient communities.

The said department will concentrate on disaster risk reduction, disaster preparedness and response, and recovery and building forward better.

When asked how he will spend his Christmas, Senator Go said…

“Mas gusto kong i-celebrate yung Christmas kasama yung mga taong mas nangangailangan (I wanted to celebrate Christmas with those people who are in need). (MLC)
