JVR Assures Jobs for Displaced JOs
Talisay City Mayor Johnny V. Delos Reyes during the flag raising ceremony at the City Hall Monday assured the displaced job order (JO) workers that the city will help them find jobs.
Delos Reyes told the displaced workers who attended the ceremony, that many private firms have answered his “adopt a Talisaynon” program which allows at least 40 percent of the firm’s total worker population to be from Talisay. There is, however, no formal contracts yet but the mayor said it will be his priority in the coming months.
Delos Reyes’ assurance came after he formally announced that 800 JOs will have no jobs starting August 1 as part of the city’s cost-cutting measures. Presently, Delos Reyes’ administration has 2,000 JOs, excluding the more than 200 regular employees, which the mayor admitted is hurting their budget.
“Kung mapuno na ang barko basin maunlod ta,” Delos Reyes said.
