“Control Your Diet” — DOH

Published

on

The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-CVCHD) suggested that people should be aware of their diet especially Christmas is fast approaching.

“We can do a lot of things to maintain our weight, food isn’t the only factor that promotes weight gain but there are some other factors also,” said Dr. Van Phillip Baton, Medical Officer III, DOH-CVCHD.

Baton said that aside from overeating during the holidays, most people gain weight because they tend to sit all the time and they don’t also engage in physical activities.

Baton explained that most Filipinos gain weight right after the holidays simply because food is abundant and easy to access.

“Ilabi na karon ting pasko na daghan gyud na mga invites tapos buffet pa gyud na so maganahan gyud kag kaon (During the holidays, people usually go to parties and eat a lot),” Baton added.

Baton suggested that even if food is abundant during the holidays, people should still maintain good health.

“If you were healthier before December, you should maintain it,” Baton said.

“Ang atong pagkaon is actually a choice, i-control lang siya kay ang pagkaon di mana mu derecho ug sulod sa atong baba (Eating a lot of food is a choice, but we have to be responsible since we’re the one who can control it),” Baton added. (MLC)
