8 Women Rescued in Moalboal
Eight women believed to be sex workers were rescued by authorities from their alleged pimp in Moalboal town, Cebu.
Members of the Regional Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force and Regional Intelligence Division nabbed one Jenvie Cabaluna during an entrapment operation Sunday morning. Cabaluna allegedly received P27,000 marked money from a decoy who disguised himself as a customer. The money was meant as payment for Cabaluna’s girls.
Cabaluna, 29, was taken to the Fuente Police Station in the Cebu City where she will wait for the criminal charges to be filed against her. She is expected to face charges on Monday for violation of the Anti-Human Trafficking in Persons Act before the Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the police one of the victim was only 17, but they suspected two more were minors. The minor was already brought to the Department of Social Welfare and Development for counseling, while authorities are set to verify the age of two others whom they believed to be minors.
Allegedly Cabaluna had been in the business for 10 years, pimping the victims to her foreign customers.
