Senator Bong Go Aids Sambag Fire Victims
Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go supported hundreds of fire victims in Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City on October 25.
Senator Go, who came all the way from Cagayan de Oro City to also give fire victims a helping hand, made his way directly to the Sambag 1 sports center at around 5 in the afternoon.
The said sports center serves as temporary shelter for the fire victims.
“Ako naa ko diri, nituyok ko kay di ko ka agwanta nga maghuwat ko diha sa senado tapos kamo diri kinanglan ug tabang, saad na nako sa una pa maskin asa mo nga eskinita sudlon tamo (I am here because I can’t stand to see you people having a hard time. I promised that I will help you at all times),” Go said.
Senator Go gave cash assistance to the fire victims for them to partially start a new life again.
“Kani atong ihatag para lang gyud ni maka tabok mo sa inyung gi-agian karon (What we are about to give is just something to help you get back on your feet),” Go added.
National Government Agencies like Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), National Housing Authority (NHA), Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Health (DOH) were present to also provide respective assistance to the victims.
Go brought action stars Phillip Salvador and Robin Padilla with him to put smile on the victims’ faces.
After Go’s speech, he had a boodle fight meal with Cebu City Mayor Edgar Labella and some residents of Sambag 1.
During an ambush interview, Go expressed his happiness on his son’s success being the top 3 on the October 2019 CPA board examinations.
“As a father I am very proud. In fact, ni graduate siyag Summa Cum Laude nga halos wala kahibalo ang iyahang mga classmate nga ako diay siyang anak kay di gyud magpahibalo (As a father I am very proud. In fact, he graduated as Summa Cum Laude without his classmates knowing the he is my son because of his humble attitude),” Go said.
The senator has also a message to all students.
“Tambag nako sa atong mga kabatan.onan nga nag sakripisyo gyud inyung mga ginikanan para mapa swkela mo, ang ato lang masukli sa ilaha tarong lang mog skwela (My advice to the youth is to continue and pursue your education because that is the only thing that we give our parents in return),” Go said
On October 19 this year, an early morning fire left 421 individuals and 145 families homeless. 26 houses were totally burned while 1 house was partially burned. A grade 9 student was also killed during the fire incident. (MLC)
