PCOO Conducts Road Show in CNU
The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) in partnership with the Cebu City Government, Philippine Information Agency Region-7 (PIA)-7 and the school administration of Cebu Normal University (CNU) conducted a roadshow about the Freedom Of Information (FOI) Campus Caravan in Cebu Normal University on Tuesday, August 27.
Executive Order No.02 also known as Freedom Of Information (FOI) Program was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on July 23, 2016 in Davao City.
PCOO Assistant Secretary Atty. Kristian Ablan said that the activity shows the importance of public information.
It also discusses the right of every citizen to acquire and ask for any public document in any government agency.
However, Ablan said there are some offices that are not included in the FOI program.
“Covering po all national agencies, ang hindi lang po covered ng ating program ay ang ating kongreso at hudikatura pati na rin ang ating constitutional commissions (All national agencies are covered by the FOI program except the judiciary branch and constitutional commissions),” Ablan said.
Ablan said that the government is indeed full of information.
“The government is a rich source of information that you can use to improve your life,” Ablan added.
Ablan also convinced all Local Government Units (LGU) to make an ordinance to complement the FOI program.
The roadshow also featured “Rehabinasyon”, a program that tackles about the government’s successful campaign against illegal drugs.
On August 15 and 16 this year, the PCOO already conducted the “Rehabinasyon” program in the cities of Carcar and Cebu. (MLC)
