More personalities expressed their support for the conversion of the Malacañang sa Sugbo into a National Museum.

First off, Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia personally wrote and sent a letter to President Rodrigo Duterte to express her support on the said plan.

“I am very supportive of the idea of our very own nationally supported museum located right here in Cebu,” part of Garcia’s letter.

Garcia said that the conversion of Malacañang sa Sugbo into a National Museum will surely attract more tourist in Cebu and the whole region (Central Visayas).

The National Museum will serve as a treasure not only for Cebuanos but for all the Filipinos.

Meanwhile, during the 1st session of the 15th Sangguniang Panglusod of Cebu City, the council already passed the resolution converting the Malacañang sa Sugbo into a National Museum.

“The National Museum is an educational scientific and cultural institution that acquires, documents, preserves, exhibits, and fosters scholarly study and public appreciation of works of art, specimen and cultural and historical artifacts representative of the unique cultural heritage of the Filipino people and the natural history of the Philippines,” the resolution reads.

The said resolution was sponsored by Cebu City Councilor Renato Osmeña Jr.

Meanwhile, acting Deputy General Manager of Cebu Port Authority (CPA) Glen Castillo also expressed his support.

The DIBUHU ART GROUP (Diwa sa Buhing Hulagway), through its Head Artist Wilfredo Cañete Jr., also expressed their support to the idea of chairperson Evangelina Arroyo-Bernas, which was to convert the former Malacañang sa Sugbo into a National Museum.

“This would also inspire our artists and young Cebuanos to contribute and leave a legacy to our great nation,” said Cañete. (MLC)
