Hanna, LPA, Southwest Monsoon to Bring Rains Wednesday
Hanna strengthened into a typhoon from a severe tropical storm and will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing rains over most parts of the country on Wednesday.
In its weather bulletin, the Philippine Astronomical, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Hanna was last spotted 625 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.
Hanna is packing maximum winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It is moving west-northwest at 10 kph.
Another tropical storm “Krosa” was spotted at 2,130 km east of extreme northern Luzon with maximum winds at 75 kph near the center with gusts 90 kph moving north northwest at 15 kph.
Meanwhile, the low pressure area (LPA) was estimated at 270 km west of Dagupan City, Pangasinan while the southwest monsoon is affecting the whole country.
Moderate to heavy monsoon rains are expected over the northern portions of Palawan (including Calamian and Cuyo Islands), Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Zambales, Bataan, Aklan, and Antique.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Central Visayas and Western Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
Metro Manila temperature ranges from 26-30 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 25-32 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 17-23 degrees Celsius; SBMA 25-29 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 25-30 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 25-31 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 26-30 degrees Celsius. (PNA)
