BRT Route Altered

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) presented the new plan for the P16.3 billion Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Cebu City.

The construction of the BRT will start by the end of this year.

“Definitely ang BRT sigurado na gyud magsugod ang construction before the end of the year,” Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (PAV) Secretary Michael Dino said.

According to the new alignment of the BRT, it will start at the South Road Properties (SRP).

The route of the BRT follows SRP – Osmeña Boulevard – Capitol Area – Escario Street – Asilo and will end at the Cebu I.T. Park.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Cobonpue, co-chair of the Regional Development Council in Central Visayas (RDC)-7 said that the re-alignment of the BRT’s route will give way to vehicles traversing the N.Bacalso Avenue (Highway, main road) route.

It was known that soon, there will be 250 buses with 21 stations all over the city.

The implementation of BRT transport system and monorail in Cebu City is part of the National Government’s “Build, Build, Build” program. (MLC)
