Naga Landslide Ground Zero Rehabilitated
On September 20, 2018, a vast number of lives were taken away by the devastating landslide in Sitio Sindulan, Barangay Tina-an in the City of Naga in Southern Cebu.
Now nearly a year after the traumatic event, the Local Government of Naga City is on its 2nd phase of the rehabilitation of the said area.
Apo Land and Quarry Corp. along with the Local Government of Naga City conducted various plans on the rehabilitation of the area and the primary one is the Hazard Reduction Plan (HRP).
Acting Regional Director of Mines and Geosciences Bureau in Central Visayas (MGB)-7 Efren Carido said that parts of the HRP are the construction of access roads, safety walls and drainage system to secure the safety of everyone especially this rainy season.
Meanwhile, the national office of MGB will still have to decide whether to make the landslide’s ground zero a “No Build Zone” since it is still dangerous to put up certain establishments.
The national office of the MGB is still conducting their re-assessment as of the moment and the result will released on August this year. (MLC)
