DILG Joins Groundbreaking of P77-M Gov’t Command Center in CDO

To ensure the protection and welfare of the people during disasters and emergencies, DILG Region 10 and partner agencies recently conducted the groundbreaking ceremony of P77-million Government Command and Control Center at Lumbia Airport, Cagayan de Oro City.

DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe said that the facility includes a three-storey multi-purpose building including the state-of-the-art operational center, situational analysis and communication virtual room, and conference room.

“We place our focus to the most vulnerable barangays in our local government units, which we consider as high-risk areas,” said RD Agabe as he affirmed that partner agencies are stepping up their collaborative efforts when it comes to disaster preparedness measures.

“With this, we gear up in being more proactive in our approaches to strategically come up with appropriate mitigation, preparedness, response, actions and plans,” he added.

According to Agabe, this facility is designed to effectively and efficiently deliver specialized activities during disasters and emergency especially in the field of communications, warning signals, emergency transportation, evacuation, rescue, health and rehabilitation, public education, and other auxiliary services.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, National Disaster Risk Reduction Management (NDRRM) Chairman Secretary Delfin Lorenzana led partner agencies in laying down the time capsule for this 1,284.122 sq.m. government facility.

Also present during the event were key top officials from partner agencies namely Police Regional Office (PRO) 10 Regional Director PBGen Rafael P Santiago, Jr, Office of Civil Defense 10 Regional Director Rosauro Arnel Q. Gonzales, Philippine Information Agency 10 Regional Director Erlinda Olivia P. Tiu, Civil Defense Administrator Usec. Ricardo B. Jalad, National Economic and Development Authority 10 Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Carino, Department of Health Assistant Regional Director Adriano P. Subaan, Department of Education Regional Director Arturo B. Bayocot, and Bureau of Fire Protection 10 Regional Director CSupt. Lindy C Lauzon.
