The Department of Transportion (DOTr) formally announced 2 of their focal persons that will help develop the region’s infrastractures and transportation systems.

DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade named DOTr OIC Undersecretary Mark Richmund De Leon to be the permanent Representative.

This was requested by the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (PAV) Secretary Michael Dino to deploy focal persons from the said agency.

“I am really happy that Secretary Tugade has finally assigned representatives here in the Visayas, this goes to show how serious DOTr, OPAV, and the Duterte Administration in implementing and expediting DOTr projects in the Visayas,” PAV Dino Said.

Aside from De Leon, Eymard Eje, the Assistant Secretary for Rails and Project Implementation will also serve Visayas as Alternative Representative.

Tugade tasked the representatives to attend the Regional Development Committee (RDC) under the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) in the Visayas Region.

“The designated permanent representative is tasked to attend the NEDA-Regional Development Committee (NEDA-RDC) meetings and other coordination meetings for the effective and efficient implementation of projects involving the participation of the DOTr,” the letter of Secretary Tugade reads.

PAV Secretary Dino requested for representatives to help him focus and work on the major projects in the region like airports, seaports and other transport system to bring massive development to the region.

PAV Secretary Dino also said that it will be much better if these projects will be implemented as soon as possible.

Part of the transport system projects that they are looking to now is the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) under Integrated Inter-modal Transport System (IITS) which will become a backbone monorail in Cebu to make transportation more convenient to commuters. (MLC)
