Nutrition Month Celebration Successful

“It was very successful,” those were the words uttered by Dr. Parolita Mission, head of the National Nutrition Council in Central Visayas (NNC)-7 during the 45th Nutrition Month celebration on July 1, Monday, at the cube wing of SM Seaside City Cebu.

Dr. Mission said that they were overwhelmed by the number of participants since they only expected about 300 individuals to join but it reached almost 500.

Just as planned, the sequence of activities went smoothly from the Nutri-fun walk to the awarding ceremony.

The venue was filled with different kiosks and booths including physical activity booths, a nutrition counseling booth and healthy food booths.

One of the healthy foods booth featured “MMK” Burger or Malunggay, Monggo, Kalabasa Burger.

Students from different schools all over Metro Cebu participated in the activities where it promotes physical activities to acquire a healthy body.

Students from Cebu Doctor’s University College of Nutrition and Dietetics, Saint Paul College of Nursing and Southwestern University PHINMA participated in the activity where they also took part of the nutrition counseling.

All Local Government Units (LGUs) from Metro Cebu including Cebu City, Talisay City, Mandaue City and Lapu-Lapu City also showed their support during the celebration.

Representatives from CarCar City and Municipality of Minglanilla were also present.

Dr. Mission called out every participants to practice proper nutrition not only on the Nutrition Month Celebration but also in their respective households.

“We hope kani sila nga mga activities, ila pod nga ma practice sa ilang balay,” Mission said.

Meanwhile, the winners of the Amazing Nutri Race are:

– Grand Prize (Mandaue Science High School)
– Second Prize (Don Sergio Osmeña Sr. Memorial National High School)
– Third Prize (Lipata National High School)
