Bong Go Extends Assistance to Mandaue Fire Victims

After a massive fire hit 3 Sitios in Barangay Tipolo in Mandaue City, former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) and now Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go extends his assistance to the fire victims on Friday, June 28, at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC).

Sitios Maharlika, Basubas and Espina were affected by the fire where it left 1,200 families homeless.

752 houses were said to be burned to the ground with P1.3 million pesos worth of damage.

Go also assisted fire victims displaced by fire in Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur before flying directly to Cebu on the same day.

During his speech in front of the victims, Go said that whenever the people need him, he will always be there to provide assistance and help.

“Pangako nako na sa mga Pilipino, bisag asa pamo sudlon tamo para matabangan tamo, gusto nako aksyon dayun, ora mismo (That is my promise to every Filipino, wherever you are I will help you right away),” Go said.

Go explained that the assistance also came from his friends in the private sector.

Each family received cash assistance, grocery packs, clothing and dinner meal on that day.

“Kani atong gi hatag karon para lang gyud ni maka tabok sila sa ilang gi agian karon (We gave them what they need so that they can survive the challenge that they are currently experiencing),” Go said.

In an interview with one of the fire victims, a certain “Ella” expressed her gratitude to Bong Go while crying.

“Dako mig pasalamat ni sir Bong kay lisud kaayo ni among gi agian maayo na lang naa siya para mutabang namo (We are very thankful to sir Bong because he helped us),” Ella said.

Go coordinated with the National Housing Authority (NHA) to let the victims avail housing assistance.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) were also present to distribute respective assistance and relief.

Meanwhile, Tipolo Barangay Captain Romana Cuizon pledge to focus on the fire victims so that she can give them what they need as soon as possible.

Senator Go will serve as a Senator of the Republic of the Philippine starting today. (MLC)
