LTO’s DLRO in Malls to Extend Office Hours
Drivers who wish to renew their driver’s license will now have a convenient time to do the transaction since the Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO)-7 will open their Driver’s License Renewal Office (DLRO) on Saturdays starting June 22.
Government agency offices are usually close on Saturdays but the LTO-7 extended their mall outlets’ office hours since there are also plenty of people taking their day offs on the weekend.
Some people say that the primary reason they cannot acquire a Student Permit (SP) or renew their driver’s license is that the office of the LTO is closed during Saturdays, which happened to be the only day that they are available because of their jobs.
“Lisud pod usahay magpa renew, or bisag lukat lang ug SP kay matunong man sad gud akong day off kay sabado unya close man sad ang LTO, pero karon nindut na hinuon kay naa na sa mall pwede magpa renew, unya aircon pa gyud, hayahay ra (I find it difficult sometimes to renew my driver’s license or even acquire an SP since my rest day is on Saturday and the LTO is closed, but now this a great news for everyone since they are now open on Saturdays in malls, which will be more convenient because there is air conditioning),” a certain Carlo said.
Meanwhile, driver’s license can now be renewed 2 months before it will expire but the DLRO in malls will only cater renewal of license and people who wishes to acquire student permits.
Other transactions can be done only during weekdays.
Regional Director of the LTO-7 Victor Caindec pointed out that this new system will allow drivers to renew their license ahead of time to also avoid hassle and certain penalties.
LTO’s DLRO is located at SM City Cebu, SM Seaside, Robinson’s Fuente, Island Central Mall in Lapu-Lapu City, Island City Mall and Alturas Mall in Bohol and Robinson’s Place in Dumaguete City.
DLRO will be open on the same time the mall will open and it will close at 5pm. (MLC)
