Davide Opens P6.2-M Bridge in Guindaruhan, Minglanilla
Outgoing Cebu Governor and Vice Governor-elect Hilario P. Davide III led the opening of a 30-meter-long bridge in Barangay Guindaruhan, Minglanilla town on Thursday, June 6.
“Naa gihapon ko nga andam motabang ninyo,” said Davide to over 100 Guindaruhan residents, including barangay officials and workers, as he assured his commitment to continue to deliver quality services to the Cebuanos.
Davide said the P6.2-million Guindaruhan Bridge was requested by Barangay Captain Leonardo Mañacap, which the Cebu Provincial Government eagerly granted.
The new bridge replaced the old wooden one that only allowed light vehicles to pass through, said Provincial Engineer Hector Jamora.
The bridge connects the barangay road to the provincial road that goes to the main highway of Cebu south.
Jamora said that the project is a joint effort of the Cebu Provincial Government, JLR Construction and Aggregates Inc., and the barangay.
The Province provided funds for the project, while the barangay constructed the bridge’s approach, added Manacap.
Herbert Camasura of JLR Construction said the company provided P310,000 worth of aggregate materials for the bridge’s construction.
Tuanson Construction, on the other hand, implemented the project.
In behalf of the community, Manacap and the high school students thanked Davide.
“Mas nindot na karon kay sa una mahadlok ta moagi (kay) naay possibility nga malusot ta,” said 16-year-old Rogie Tapdasan, who is one of the over 100 students attended the opening and blessing of the bridge.
Keitch Nino Delicana, 17, another student, said that before the turnover of the new concrete bridge, huge vehicles were made to detour to a more distant route.
After the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, the students had a group picture with Davide, Mañacap and the rest of the barangay officials. Municipal Councilor-elect Allan Bastida also graced the occasion. (Cebu Provincial Govt.)
