‘Kasambahay – Cebu’ Reaches Out to Domestic Workers

With the aim of extending its reach to the domestic workers here, the Kasambahay-Cebu is slated to be launched in Cebu City on July 28.

It is also on this day that Domestic helpers or “kasambahay” will register with their respective local government units.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 7 regional director Chona Mantilla said they are expecting at least 2,000 kasambahays in Cebu which will join the group that will eventually benefit RA 10361 or the Kasambahay Law.  The labor department has recently submitted the Implementing Rules and Regulations of said law. The said IRR is still, however, being reviewed, said Mantilla.

Republic Act 10361 mandates that a kasambahay of whose monthly income does not exceed P5,000 must enjoy benefits such as SSS and Philhealth, among others.
