Isabela Exports Quality Native Mangoes to Dubai
The province here has started to export quality native mangoes produced by Isabela mango farmers to Dubai, an official of the Philippine Mango Industry Foundation said.
Virginia dela Fuente, Philippine Mango Industry Foundation Incorporated president, said the maiden mango export trip on May 23 came a result of the 21st National Mango Congress hosted by Isabela Provincial Government and held at the Isabela State University in Echague, Isabela on March 19 – 21, 2019.
During the congress, dela Fuente encouraged Isabela mango growers to produce mangoes for exports.
At least 75 boxes or equivalent to 1, 200 kilos of quality mango products from Isabela have been exported to Dubai via a Cebu Pacific plane from Cauayan Domestic Airport. to Dubai.
Dela Fuente said she hopes that this will encourage the public particularly the farmers to venture in planting export quality mangoes.
She encouraged Isabela farmers to seize the opportunity and grow more mangoes and promised the assistance of the PhilMango Industry Foundation Incorporated in will help in marketing mango products in other parts of the world.
“We urge Isabela farmers to grow more mangoes as we, at the PhilMango Industry Foundation will help market the mango produce in Isabela,” Dela Fuente said.
Meanwhile, Gov. Faustino G. Dy III suggested the proper labeling of mangoes and mango products for export to other countries so that buyers will know that it came from the Province of Isabela.
Dy said the initial export of mangoes would help mango farmers generate more income and provide employment opportunities for local workers.
He said that it is incumbent for the Provincial Government of Isabela to support the mango production and help in its marketing. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
