DepEd Director: Service Won’t Stop
Opening of school year 2019-2020 is fast approaching and the Department of Education is conducting its last minute preparations before June 3, 2019 (opening of classes).
In an exclusive interview with DepEd-7 Regional Director Dr. Juliet Jeruta reminded all the teachers, parents and all concerned stakeholders to continue the preparation and service even if “Brigada Eskwela” is done.
“It doesn’t mean that Brigada Eskwela is done, they are not going to do anything because Brigada Eskwela is only highlighted this week,” Jeruta said
Brigada Eskwela officially closed on May 25, Saturday.
Jeruta said that there are series of activities to be conducted this week to continue the preparation for the opening of classes.
“This week, we will still be continuing to do the preparation like teachers training, continuing the registration for those returning students and then accepting enrollees for Kindergarten, Grade 7 and Grade 11,” Jeruta said.
However, the slot for public school teachers allotted by the DepEd in 2019 in Central Visayas increased to 8,000 compared to 6,000 last year due to high demands.
“Sa ngayon ang number of teachers na ina-allot sa atin depende yun sa need. We have 6,000 teachers last year but ngayon medyo nag anticipate tayo ng increase in enrollment so we were given 8,000 slots (For now, the number of teachers alloted to us will depend on our needs. We have 6,000 teachers last year but ngayon medyo nag anticipate tayo ng increase in enrolment so we were given 8,000 slots),” Jeruta said.
Jeruta added that teachers for senior high school are the most in-demand. (MLC)
