20 TOSP Finalists for CV Named
The 20 regional finalists in Central Visayas for the Search for the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) were announced on May 11, 2019.
TOSP is an award-giving body which recognizes top college graduates in the country every year.
Of the total, 13 finalists are from Cebu, four of whome are from the University of Cebu, namely: Marc Lennard Colina, Shyra Marie Miñoza, Niño Jan Miole, and Janryl Tan.
Three are from the University of San Carlos namely Diether Dan Cala, June Jan Genelsa, and Denxybel Montinola.
Two are from the University of the Visayas namely Adrian Edward Aniñon and Jade Michael Zafra.
The others who are from Cebu-based schools are Kennedy Genon of Cebu Normal University, Lester Toledo of Cebu Institute of Technology University, Decelle Marie Suarez of University of the Philippines- Cebu, and Japhet Suson of University of San Jose-Recoletos.
Meanwhile, Negros Oriental produced four regional finalists this year.
Siliman University has two finalists namely Adrian Jay Alforque and Carlisle Naudyn Caroro.
The two others are Jailyn Dael of St. Paul University-Dumaguete and Marco Fernando of Foundation University.
Bohol has three finalists named Jovelyn Vitor of Bohol Wisdom School, Ruth Huit of Mater Dei College, and Necah Migriño of Holy Name University.
A screening committee was formed to pick the top 20 out of the 36 nominees from across Region VII.
The said selection body is composed of experts on different fields like business, education, engineering, and social sciences.
“When I was going through the bid books, I did not see just mere awards and certificates of the students, but I see their hearts to serve the community, their grit to achieve their dreams, their passion to live their purpose, and their attitude that despite life’s tribulations, they are stronger and resilient than ever,” said Queene Garcia-Dionaldo, one of the screeners.
The regional finalists will undergo a formation program starting May 22.
The regional judging and awarding ceremony on May 25 at the Skyhall of SM Seaside.
This event is presented by Yuenthai Philippines and Commission on Higher Education Region 7 and co-presented by Fly Ace Corporation.
The event is sponsored by Tesol Coach Master, Qualfon Philippines, Inc.- Cebu, Kool Adventure Camp, Skyhall Seaside, and Parkmall.
On the following day, all finalists together with the TOSP alumni community will conduct an outreach program at Barangay Kamagayan.
Those who will make it to the top 10 list in Region 7 will automatically be nominated to proceed in the national TOSP Search.
This 2019, TOSP is on its 58th year of recognizing Filipino graduates who have shown excellence in academic, leadership, and social responsibility efforts. (PR)
