The Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) management prepares as midterm elections on May 13 is fast approaching.

They are anticipating a lot of passengers to flock in the terminal who will be returning to certain towns in southern Cebu to exercise their right to suffrage.

Jonathan Tumulak, CSBT Operations Manager said that the management is now looking for possible emergency plans to help the problem on shortage of buses.

Tumulak said that CSBT officials are now seeking assistance of the Local Government Units (LGUs) to deploy additional buses to transport their residents to their respective hometowns.

He explained that this strategy, which was also implemented during the holy week, was effective in responding to the large number of passengers due to the upcoming elections.

Tumulak guaranteed that everyone can go home and vote and no individual will be stranded at the terminal by May 13.

Previous records show that about 30,000 to 40,000 passengers leave for their hometown every week.

Meanwhile, the CSBT management requested police assistance from the city and provincial police offices to ensure security.

Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) together with their K-9 units will also patrol the premises of the terminal.

CSBT staffs and personnel will also inspect every bus to check if they are in good condition. (MLC)
