More Abraeñean Students Qualify for DOST Scholarship

Qualifiers in the scholarship program of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the province is now increasing.

Nine students in the province have qualified for the DOST college scholarship program for School Year 2019-2020. This is a marked improvement from one or two and at most four students who passed the scholarship in the past years.

The DOST qualifiers for 2019 are Payrick Banagan Bangui of Tiempo National High School from Tiempo, Tubo; Jose John Jr. Pastores Cabarrubias of Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST) from San Juan Sur, Manabo; Krystal Rea Bodaño Colet of ASIST from Calao, Bucay; Ivan Nicole Lacaden Macapagal of Abra High School from Bangued; Edelweis Tandi Mal-in of Abra HS from Caganayan, Tineg; Elvis Kr. Baquirin Soberano of San Isidro Nat’l HS from Poblacion, San Isidro; Mark Cyril Bergonia Turqueza of ASIST from Namit-ingan, Dolores; June Hope Dela Cruz Aznar of Far Eastern University from Zone 5, Bangued; and Vincent Lt Lo Pataray of Philippine Science High School-San Ildefonso Campus from Zone 7, Bangued.

These students are advised to visit the DOST-Provincial Office in Brgy. Calaba, Bangued for them to complete and submit the required documents for the granting of their scholarship benefits this coming school opening.

DOST-Abra Field Unit Provincial Director Menandro B. Buenafe advises the scholars to study seriously in order to maintain their scholarship grant till they finish their course. A DOST scholar has so much benefits compared to other scholarship programs aside from the fact that this is one of the most prestigious scholarship programs in the country.

DOST scholar benefits include monthly stipend of P7,000 per month; P40,000 per year tuition and other school fees subsidy;P10,000 per year book allowance; One-time P1,000 uniform allowance; One-time P1,000 graduation clothing allowance; One economy-class roundtrip fare per year for those studying outside of their home province, and Group health and accident insurance.
