More Jobs on Labor Day 2019

The Department Of Labor and Employment (DOLE) gears up as Labor Day 2019 is fast approaching.

Around 18000 jobs are waiting for job seekers for the upcoming Labor Day celebration.

This May 1 (Wednesday) marks the 117th commemoration of Labor Day.

Salome Siaton, Regional Director of DOLE-7 said that there are many jobs waiting for those individuals who need work.

“Right now we have already 18,000 plus available jobs at tumaas din ngayon yung sa overseas,” said Siaton.

Siaton explained that they will organize a job and business fair called “Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan” or TNK at certain places here in Cebu and Dumaguete.

In Cebu City, the job fair will be held at SM City Cebu and the Cebu Provincial Capitol while in Mandaue City, it will be held at the Mandaue City Sports Complex.

Job seekers from Negros Oriental can also go to Robinsons Place Dumaguete for the job fair.

Siaton disclosed that there are 18,889 job vacancies as of the moment where 6,898 vacancies for local and 11,991 vacancies for overseas.

Siaton also said that the top 5 in demand local workers are Call Center Agents, Nurses, Tailors, Cashier and Sales Clerk while overseas employers need skilled workers, nurses, cleaners, factory workers and laborers.

Based on the record of DOLE-7, it appears that around 400 nurses are also needed by local hospitals.

Meanwhile the TNK is not only focused in employment but people can also venture in certain businesses. (MLC)
