Some TLC for Those Lippies
The constant change of weather during this season can take it’s toll on your lips. If you also wear lipstick often it’s good to show your lippies some TLC.
1. Breathing through your nose, instead of your mouth (when possible) makes a huge difference in the overall appearance of your lips. According to research, they dry up and crack during mouth-breathing.
2. Use a dampened towel instead of a toothbrush in removing dead skin. Just don’t do it too hard, or they’ll feel sore afterwards. Being too hard on your lips or using a toothbrush often on them will only break the skin on your lips! Remember this is the part of your body where the skin is thinnest.
3. Remember to use a nourishing lip balm like the classic Chapstick after. Nivea offers a wide-range of lip care products that also work great.
You can also exfoliate your lips with a mixture of a teaspoon each of brown sugar, honey and olive oil. Mix together and apply on lips. Honey is a natural substance used to cure dryness and irritation. It has anti-bacterial properties to prevent inflammation and is also great for hydrating the lips. Sugar is great for exfoliating. The tiny particles help get rid of dead skin and other impurities. Olive oil is a great natural oil that helps repair and moisturize the skin is one of the many benefits of this all-natural oil. You can even replace olive oil with pure vitamin E oil as it promotes intense skin repair.
4. Smoking and using straws promote line formation on the lips. Try to avoid straws when drinking beverages. One of the negative effects of long-term smoking is the discoloration of the lips.
