President Rodrigo Duterte has declared May 9, the election day, as a special non-working holiday throughout the country.
Duterte signed Proclamation No. 1357 on May 5 to make it easier for Filipino voters to vote.
“to enable the people to properly exercise their right to vote, subject to the public health measures of the national government,” the Proclamation No. 1357 reads.
Over 60 million voters are expected to cast their votes on May 9.
