Chia seeds or Salvia Hispanica L. contain nutrients that are essential to the human body. Chia seeds are rich in fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, high-quality protein, as well as a few necessary minerals and antioxidants. According to the African Journal of Food Science, chia seeds are reported to contain 15-25% protein, 15-35% fat, 4-6% ash, 18-35% dietary fiber, and 18-31% carbohydrates.

They might lessen risk factors for diabetes and heart disease, improve blood levels of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, and intestinal wellness.
