Talisay City Council Passes 2017 PhP 888 Million Annual Budget Sans Cut
The Talisay City Council has passed the city’s PHP888-million 2017 annual budget without any cut.
The proposed budget next year amounting to PHP888 million submitted by Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas was approved as is.
Of the approved budget for next year, more than PHP104.2 million will be dedicated to various infrastructure projects, including PHP20 million for the construction and rehabilitation of local roads and bridges.
At least PHP13 million was also set aside for the construction of manpower development centers in the city.
Gullas earlier vowed to establish a technical-vocational school in Barangay Lagtang, Talisay City.
Other projects that will be covered in the PHP104.2 million include the construction or rehabilitation of rural health units and the purchase of medical equipment worth PHP5 million, rehabilitation of cultural and historical sites worth PHP5 million, and rehabilitation of the city’s sanitary landfill amounting to PHP10 million.
The 2017 budget also included an appropriation of PHP93.7 million for the salaries and wages of regular employees.
The budget next year also includes PHP15 million for Gullas’ confidential expenses.
It also includes at least PHP15 million for the Legislative Assistance Financial Fund (LAFF), which is intended for projects being sponsored by the legislative department for the city’s 22 barangays. (PNA)LAP/EB/EDS
