Bacolod Alay Lakad set Dec. 4
The Junior Chamber International (JCI) – Bacolod is inviting all Negrenses to participate in the annual Bacolod City Alay Lakad on December 4, Sunday, a press release from the Bacolod City PIO said.
The Alay Lakad 2016 will have two main activities: a walk and a run that will both start at 5:00 a. m. from separate venues, Martha Isiderio-Gutierrez of JCI, this year’s executive committee chair, said.
The walk will start from four assembly areas: Bacolod City National High School, Goldenfield Commercial Complex, STI West Negros University, and Capitol Lagoon. The run will start from Robinsons Place Bacolod.
Both the walk and the run will converge and culminate at the Bacolod Public Plaza. Now on its 44th year, and with the theme, “May Pag-asa Ang Kabataan,” Alay Lakad is a yearly nationwide walk participated by civic-minded citizens in every city.
In Bacolod City, about 10,000 participants from various sectors join the Alay Lakad every year, she said. “Alay Lakad aims to raise funds to provide development opportunities for indigent out-of-school youth.
The funds raised in this undertaking will be used to finance skills training, short-term courses and livelihood activities to improve the lives of the indigent youth,” Gutierez said. ( Bacolod PIO/ JCM/LLJR-PIA6)
