Guidebook For Better Tourism Planning Out Soon

Iloilo City — The Department of Tourism (DOT)-6 is set to unveil a tourism guidebook that will help local government units in Western Visayas better plan tourism project and activities.

In a media release, DOT-6 Regional Director Helen Catalbas said the tourism guidebook was developed as one of support mechanisms to serve as reference and guide in the local government units’ tourism planning activities.

“The book contains the guide in formulating tourism development plans and supplemental readings to understand the various tourism concepts and tourism planning processes better,” she said.

The DOT official is optimistic this tourism guidebook will help local government units to formulate better tourism plans and pursue more relevant projects and activities that will benefit the communities within the tourism areas of Western Visayas.

“This roll out of tourism guidebook is timely as most of the tourism officers in the LGUs are newly-designated/appointed,” she said.

She also said that DOT-6 will conduct an orientation workshop on the tourism guidebook for tourism and planning officers from the different local government units on November 14, 16 and 25, 2016 at The Venue Function Rooms, G. Pison Avenue, Mandurriao, Iloilo City.

“This orientation/workshop will assist tourism officers and planning officers in planning and developing tourism plans and projects for their respective destinations”, she added. (JCM/DOT/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
