Task Force ‘Kontra Lamok’ Strengthens Dengue Prevention and Control Program
The Cebu Provincial Health Office (CPHO) said that Task Force ‘Kontra Lamok’ is crafting disease prevention and control program that will reduce infection to a level where it will no longer pose risks.
Dr. Niño Ismael Pastor, head of Task Force Kontra Lamok, said that during their meeting, member agencies are given specific tasks with emphasis on ‘Search and Destroy’ operation and urge member agencies to lead the campaign.
Department of Education, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Municipal Health Officers, League of Municipal Mayors, and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) are among the member agencies of Task Force.
“Member agencies should lead in the practice of environmental sanitation.” Pastor said.
Pastor, PHO head on public health, said that ‘search and destroy’ of mosquito breeding grounds is among effective way to prevent and control the transmission of the dengue virus from mosquito vector to man.
He said that to maximize the relay of information, he instructed LGUs and public schools to place posters in strategic places.
The League of Municipal Mayors (LMP) also expressed support in coordinating cleanliness campaigns in their units, Pastor said.
Public schools are also tasked to maintain cleanliness in campuses, he said.
Earlier, Province School Division Superintendent Rhea Mar Angtud, said they maintain their anti-dengue campaign through its daily‘Four o’clock Habit’ program.
Pastor also added that he also asked support from barangay associations to participate in the mobilization of all local stakeholders in the province-wide clean-up.
The Task Force said the hyping of the province-wide clean up is set on November 10, but member agencies are already enforcing activities including information and education campaign. (by Fides Palicte)
