Tanay is 2nd Best Tourism-Oriented LGU
Antipolo City – The Tanay Municipal Government bagged the 1st runner-up award for Best Tourism-related LGU (Municipal Category) during the 11th Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines – Department of Tourism (ATOP-DOT) Pearl Awards.
The awards were held in line with the 17th ATOP National Convention and Election Officers held at the Royce Hotel, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga earlier this month where various tourism officers and local government officials gathered for the ceremony.
Palompon, Leyte won as best tourism-oriented LGU for three years in a row leading to its status as a Hall of Fame awardee. Both LGUs were short-listed as finalists for the municipal category.
Tanay Tourism Officer Jeffrey Pino was also adjudged as the Most Outstanding Tourism Officer.
Tanay Mayor Rex Manuel Tanjuatco received the award along with Pino, Liga ng mga Barangay President Ruel Estrella and Tour Guide and Recreation Association (TARA) President, Medel Mendez.
The Rizal municipality boasts of various tourist destinations such as Daranak Falls, Mt. Daraitan, Tinipak River, Masungi Georeserve, Regina RICA and other resorts and eco-tourism sites. (MCA/PIA-Rizal with reports from Municipality of Tanay)
