Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III led Cebuano officials in extending their deepest condolences and prayers to the families of the Davao City bombing victims, describing the incident as a horrific and senseless attack.

“The (President Rodrigo) Duterte administration will have the full support of the Cebuano people in the search for justice and put all those responsible behind bars,” he said in a press statement.

He said the attack showed what vicious organizations are capable of, killing innocent people of all backgrounds and faiths.

“I speak for all Cebuanos, when I say that these ruthless individuals and these networks are an affront to all of humanity,” he said.

He also urged the government not to rest until these networks are defeated and dismantled.

Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena, on his Facebook page, also extended his condolences to the victims of the Davao City bombing.

Osmena said his biggest concern is the safety of the crowd during the Sinulog celebration in January, which draws millions of people to the city.

Osmena said he will also ask members of the Muslim community to monitor the arrival of strangers from Mindanao.

He said the group has been instrumental in helping the city and police in thwarting major attempts to bomb the city.

“Your safety is my responsibility, and I will do everything in my power to fulfill my duty,” he said. “To the Davaoeños, my fellow Cebuanos, and everyone in the Philippines, take care and stay safe,” Osmeña said.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza also asked everyone to pray for the victims of the explosion in Davao.

Mandaue City Mayor Gabriel Quisumbing also condoled with the families of the Davao City bombing.

“The people of Mandaue grieve alongside the victims of the bombing in Davao City last Friday night. We offer our sympathies, support and prayers to all of those affected by the blast. If need be, Mandaue will be sending doctors to Davao to help with the treatment of the blast victims,” Quisumbing said. (PNA) SCS/EB/RSM
