Ex-general Turned Mayor Surrenders 12 Firearms
Daanbantayan, Cebu Mayor Vicente Loot, a retired police general named by President Rodrigo Duterte as one of four generals who are drug coddlers, has turned over 12 of the 14 firearms that Camp Crame ordered to be turned over after their licenses were revoked.
The licenses for the firearms were revoked after President Duterte named Loot as one of the police generals who protected drug lords.
Loot was also stripped of his power to supervise the local police last month.
Chief Insp. Petronilo Gracia, Daanbantayan police chief, turned over the firearms to the Firearms, Explosives, Security Service Agencies and Guards Supervision (FESSAGS) 7 in Cebu City.
SPO2 Glen Facturan of FESSAGS 7 said he received one .40 Glock pistol; .9mm Uzi pistol; 7.62 US rifle; .22 Remington rifle; .30 rifle; 12 gauge French shotgun; .38 para ordnance pistol; 5.56 high-powered rifle; .9mm Glock pistol; .45 pistol; .385 pistol; 5.56 Elisco high-powered rifle; and .45 Colt pistol.
The firearms have licenses until Aug. 17, 2019, but were considered loose firearms after their licenses were revoked.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Chief Supt. Noli Taliño said he wants Loot to turn over the missing .40 pistol and and .38 super para ordnance pistol.
He said Loot can file a report that the two firearms are already lost so the PRO 7 can start its investigation. (PNA) LAP/EB/RSM
