Washington — US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s lead over her Republican rival Donald Trump is narrowing nationwide among likely voters, a new poll revealed on Thursday.

Trump had been losing ground since the Republican National Convention ended in mid-July, but for the second week in a row, Clinton’s support has fallen, the poll explained.

“The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online White House Watch survey of Likely US Voters shows Clinton with 41 percent support to Trump’s 39 percent,” the poll summary stated.

In the same poll last week, the Democratic candidate was ahead of her Republican opponent by three points, 43-40 percent.

The poll also noted Trump is leading the former US state secretary by 8 percent among independent voters.

The US presidential election is scheduled to take place on Nov. 8. (PNA/Sputnik) RMA/RSM
