46 Villages in Pampanga Remain Flooded

City Of San Fernando, Pampanga — At least 46 barangays in the province are still submerged in floods as inclement weather persists in the province.

Latest report from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRRMC) showed that some villages in the City of San Fernando and in the towns of Guagua, Mexico, San Simon, Lubao and Bacolor remain flooded up to three feet deep.

Meanwhile, floods that started to recede in other parts of the province rose again due to moderate to heavy rains that hit the province Monday night.

Major roads in the city proper as well as in other areas in the province which were flooded over the weekend are again under knee to waist deep water, rendering them impassable to light vehicles.

Based on the report of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) here, roads that are not passable to light vehicles include the Garbes-Dizon, Allied-Rotunda-Makabali, Capitol Boulevard to Pasudeco, Lelut Baculut, Magdalena, San Juan, and Tagulud to Camp Olivas .

The compound of the provincial government of Pampanga is also submerged in floods, forcing provincial officials to suspend work in all offices.

As a result, some 4,022 families or 20,771 individuals in the province were affected since monsoon rains battered the province the past days.

Out of the total displaced residents, 305 families or 1,237 persons are staying in various evacuation centers in the province.

Provincial and other local executives have advised the residents to take precautionary measures as monsoon rains are expected to continue in the next few days. (PNA) FPV/BNB/ZST
