PAGASA: LPA Spotted Off Aurora, ‘Habagat’ to Pummel Most Parts of Luzon

A low pressure area spotted off Aurora province continues to pull the southwest monsoon (habagat), bringing moderate rains in most parts of Luzon and Visayas, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

In its 5:00 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was seen 800 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora.

Residents of Ilocos region and the provinces of Benguet, Zambales and Bataan are warned of possible flashfloods and landslides as monsoon rains continue to pummel the western section of the country.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms is expected over Metro Manila and nearby areas.

PAGASA has also issued a gale warning in the northern and western seaboards of northern Luzon and the western seaboard of central and southern Luzon.

Fishermen using small seacraft are advised against going out to sea as sea condition will be rough to very rough. (PNA) BNB/JMC
