PAGASA: Moderate to Heavy Rainfall in Metro Manila, Most Parts of PHL on Thursday

Residents in low-lying areas are warned of possible flashfloods as moderate to heavy rainfall is expected Thursday due to the southwest monsoon (habagat) enhanced by a low pressure area off northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

At 4 a.m., the LPA was spotted at 400 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes while. The southwest monsoon continues to affect Luzon and western Visayas.

The monsoon rains may trigger flashfloods and landslides in Metro Manila, regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Calabarzon and Mimaropa and the provinces of Zambales and Bataan.

PAGASA said western Visayas and the rest of Luzon may experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

As of 6 a.m., PAGASA said light to moderate with occasional heavy rains affecting Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Quezon, Bulacan, Zambales, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Tarlac may persist for one to two hours.

The rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, the state weather bureau added.

Since the country’s coastal waters will be moderate to rough, fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.(PNA) JMC/MCCA
