Presidential Assistant for Visayas Eyes Foreign Investment Forum This Year
The Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) is planning to hold a Foreign Investment Forum for the Visayas regions this year.
Presidential Assistant Michael Diño said his office is working on a forum that would showcase the business potentials of Central Visayas, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas and the Negros Island regions as the next investment hub in the country.
Diño said their task is to link the regions’ businessmen to the world to open doors for the Visayas so they can showcase what they have to offer.
He said the planned three-day forum is scheduled to be held in October or November this year in Cebu.
Diño said he is going to tap foreign chambers to send invitations to potential investors.
He said the forum will be an opportunity for local business owners and local government units to network with foreign investors.
In his first State of the Nation Address last July 25, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte vowed to “continue, maintain and even improve the country’s current macroeconomic policies through prudent fiscal and monetary policies that can help translate high growth into more and better jobs and poverty reduction.”
He also pledged to fix the tax structure, continue to attract investments that will generate thousands of jobs each year, and pursue reforms to improve the ease of doing business. (PNA)
