HANOI, Aug 1 (PNA/Xinhua) — Four deaths caused by dengue fever have been reported in Vietnam’s Central Highlands in the first seven months of 2016, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology’s office in the Central Highlands said on Monday.

Across the region, the number of patients of dengue fever has risen to 6,038, a 15-fold increase over the same period in 2015, as the weather helped the growth of mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus, Vietnam’s state-run news agency quoted the office as saying.

In the seven-month period, some 44,900 cases of dengue fever were reported all over Vietnam, including 14 deaths, according to Vietnam’s General Statistics Office. (PNA/Xinhua) LAP/CVL/SSC
