Russia May Be Dropped From Rio Olympics
A Wada-commissioned report found that Russian competitors were recipients of doping during the summer and winter Olympic sports from late 2011 to August 2015.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will decide whether or not Russia will be provisionally banned from the Rio Olympics.
IOC president Thomas Bach promised the “toughest sanctions available” and will release the decision through telephone conference. He added that the findings are a “shocking and unprecedented attack on the integrity of sport and on the Olympic Games.”
Dr. Richard McLaren’s 57-day investigation report found 580 positive tests that were covered up across 30 different sports.
President Vladimir Putin said he would suspend officials named in the McLaren report.
The method used by Russia to get away with them doping their athletes is what McLaren calls “Disappearing Positive Methodology”.
