LTFRB Suspends OPN of Victory Liner’s 17 Bus Units
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Wednesday slapped a bus company with a 30-day suspension order after one of its units figured in a road accident which killed five people and injured around 30 others.
According to the LTFRB, the accident took place last July 12 in Nueva Ecija when a Victory Liner bus with plate number AYK-522 hit a concrete barrier in Putlan Village in a trip from Tuguegarao to Manila.
Reports from witnesses said that driver, identified as 28-year-old Ryan Manuel, was driving recklessly.
To date, LTFRB slapped 17 of the bus company’s units including the one that figured in the accident with the suspension order.
The Board has also ordered the operator to surrender plates of 17 bus units to the level division of the LTFRB on July 14.
It has also issued a show cause to ask the operator why their certificate of public convenience (CPC) should not be cancelled and summoned all those involved to a hearing at the LTFRB headquarters on July 20, 9:00 am.
Aside from the suspension, the units will also undergo inspection and determination of road-worthiness. The bus company’s drivers will also have to undergo a road safety seminar and compulsory drug testing among other requirements. (PNA) RMA/ANP
